Members £7\, non-members £10 \nThe Head Gardener at Cliveden\, Anthony Mason\, will describe the restoration of the Long Garden to create a more sustainable planting scheme with new designs that pay homage to original 20th century designs by Norah Lindsay. “We’ve designed the garden to have interest all year round and be relevant to today’s climate\,” says Anthony. “The new planting will attract a wider range of pollinators\, and by allowing plants to die back naturally\, we’re creating shelter and food sources for insects and birds.”

DESCRIPTION:Kenwood House is a gem of a neoclassical villa\, set in 112 acres of glorious\, tranquil parkland with views over London. It was remodelled in the 18th century by Robert Adam\, who added the famous library and the ionic portico entrance.  The house has been recently restored; it has an outstanding collection of paintings including 63 Old Masters.  At the time of our visit there will be an exhibition of paintings by John Singer Sargent. \nBooking for Members to join this Visit may be done via the booking form sent out with our Newsletter.

Members £7\, non-members £10 \nWe are delighted to welcome Professor William Whyte\, architectural historian\, fellow of St John’s College\, Chair of Oxford Preservation Trust\, who is currently responsible for the building of the new Centre for the Humanities.  \nThe largest single building project in the University’s history\, the new Humanities Centre is the outcome of the largest single gift ever given to Oxford.  It will house seven academic departments\, seven libraries\, and provide a suite of performance and exhibition spaces open to the public\, including a 500-seat concert hall.

DESCRIPTION:At Magdalen College Auditorium\, Longwall St at 11am \nTea and coffee will be served in the Auditorium Foyer from 10.30am\, a chance to chat with friends!  All welcome!  Members £7\, non-members £10  \nLocal historian Mervyn Hughes has researched for over ten years the ffennell family of Wytham and the history of Hill End Centre and the trenches in Wytham Wood.  \nIn 1920 the ffennell family bought the Wytham Estate and used it as a holiday and weekend camping site with large and lavish tents. They were also a philanthropic family\, committed to outdoor education and influenced by the philosophy of Steiner. Over the next decades they created innovative outdoor classrooms and dormitories at Hill End.
