AGM followed by a lecture: Linescapes – Remapping and Reconnecting Britain’s Fragmented Wildlife
15 March 2022
Annual General Meeting at 10.45am.
Lecture at 11am.
Author and ecologist Hugh Warwick has spent much of his life working on hedgehogs, but he also has a fascination for wider wildlife issues, in particular the fragmentation of our landscape and how that impacts on the ability of wildlife to thrive. Hedgerows, drystone walls, railways and motorways: the lines we built to fragment the land have become the agents of connection for wildlife, while the lines we built for our own connections have become the agents of fragmentation for wildlife.
Hugh, a Visiting Fellow at Oxford Brookes University, has hopes that reconnection is beginning to be recognised as crucial for nature recovery.
