Lectures info

We continue to use Magdalen College’s Grove Auditorium, off Longwall Street, for most of our winter lectures, which take place monthly on Tuesday mornings between October and March. Members and non-members are welcome at these lectures.

With the popularity of watching our Zoom lectures at home, we also continue to offer some lectures via Zoom. Members will be sent a link to access these on-line in their own homes.

Details of date, venue and topic of each lecture are given in the Calendar.

Our illustrated lectures cover a wide range of subjects, including conservation, heritage and local history, and include speakers from the National Trust. These are held at 11am in the Grove Auditorium of Magdalen College (entrance in Longwall Street) on the third Tuesday in the month, October to March. A charge of £5 is made to members (£6 for non-members of the Oxford Centre) who are welcome to attend our lectures. The Auditorium can be reached by bus: the nearest bus stop is at Queens Lane at the bottom of the High Street, which is 5 minutes’ walk from the venue; taxis can drive into the forecourt of the Auditorium to drop off passengers.

Accessibility: The Auditorium has level access via the main entrance doors though the foyer. Wheelchairs may be placed in front of the front row of seats. There is an accessible toilet via the fire exit from the front of the Auditorium. There are no disabled parking spaces nearby although there are limited general pay-and-display parking places in Longwall Street near the Grove Auditorium entrance.
