National Trust photography collections are widespread; they reflect the development of photography from the 1840s to the present day.  Many reveal how our places appeared in the past, while others capture formal and informal portraits of the people who lived there. Numerous family albums reveal their creator’s interests and concerns, helping today’s visitors to understand our properties.

Anita Bools is the National Trust’s Senior National Conservator for Paper and Photography. In this talk she will share some of her favourite photographs and reveal their stories. She will also describe the challenges in caring for such a vast and precious collection.
