Making Sense of Portraits in Country Houses
15 February 2021 - 21 February 2021
Speaker Amy Lim holds a Collaborative Doctoral Award at the University of Oxford and Tate, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
Her talk focuses on 17th and 18th century portraits in National Trust houses, and explores how and why they were displayed. Amy will explain how to “decode” portraits by looking at clothes, poses and accessories, in particular the “Petworth Beauties” series by Michael Dahl.
