Lecture – Peeling back the layers, the art of conserving paintings

This introduction to paintings conservation at the National Trust will be given by Rebecca Hellen, Specialist Advisor for Paintings at the National Trust, who will describe the Trust’s new in-house studio on the Knole estate in Kent. She will shine a light on how the technical analysis of paintings informs the way we devise conservation treatments and helps art historians and curators understand and interpret these works for the delight of visitors.
