Visit to Corinium Museum, Cirencester and Chedworth Villa
10 May 2023
Nearly 2,000 years ago, the Romans settled in the Cotswolds and Cirencester became the second city in Roman Britain. Many Roman villas have been discovered in this area, Chedworth is the most significant. This day trip offers an opportunity to learn more about this fascinating local Romano British civilisation. The morning begins at the Corinium Museum with a short introduction to help orientate you around this splendidly refurbished museum. You will then have time to go around the museum with all its fascinating displays, giving insight into the daily lives of the Roman-British culture which lasted for 400 years.
In the afternoon we visit Chedworth Villa, for a guided tour through the recently refurbished buildings which house the mosaics, and remains of the main part of the villa.
