Visit to Eastnor Castle
29 June 2020
This 19th -century castle, nestled at the foot of the Malvern Hills in Herefordshire, was completed in1820 for John Cocks, 1st Earl Somers, and is still the home of his descendants, the Hervey-Bathurst family. Many of the rooms are open to the public, including the Great Hall, the dining room, the gothic drawing room, the octagon saloon and a number of opulent bedrooms. The rooms are richly decorated and contain much fine art and many tapestries. The castle sits in a large estate with landscaped grounds, including terraced gardens overlooking a lake, a deer park and an arboretum with many rare trees. There are marked trails through the woodlands.
All Visits were cancelled during the pandemic. It’s hoped that some of them may be rearranged in 2021.
